The NETCET courses on handling and releasing sea turtles and cetaceans

On the 26th of September 2013, the 1st NETCET Course on handling, recovering, releasing and recording accidentally caught/stranded cetaceans and sea turtles was successfully held in Koper (Slovenia).

The course, organized by the University of Padua, WWF Italy and Cetacea Foundation, has been hosted and coordinated by the University of Primorska. The lecturers presented both the biology and threats of sea turtles in the Adriatic Sea and the techniques and protocols for handling, rehabilitation and release of stranded or injured sea turtles; finally Dr. Sandro Mazzariol and Dr. Cinzia Centelleghe from the University of Padova provided a practical demonstration of handling procedures for cetaceans and sea turtles, as well as information on how to deal with the public in such events. The practical demonstration took place at Koper public beach.
